Employees and subcontractors are required to take reasonable care for their own safety and that of others, to follow instructions and to report hazards, near misses and incidents promptly.

Operational controls and safe systems of work

Risk assessment and planning. Before any commercial waste collection or site work commences a documented risk assessment must be completed and reviewed periodically. Assessments will identify hazards associated with loading, lifting, vehicle movements, manual handling, hazardous materials, and confined spaces. Controls will include safe working procedures, use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), traffic management measures and segregation of waste types including recyclable, non-recyclable and hazardous streams.

Handling hazardous and specialist waste.
